Its a 1993 Ford Ranger XLT SuperCab. It has 104,000 miles on a 4.0 Pushrod V6 and a 5 speed manual on the floor. The clutch was replaced by the original owner in September. The guy I got it from bought it off the original owner a couple weeks ago. He is a mechanic at Grease Monkey and flips cars on the side. Before he sold it he changed every single fluid and performed a brake service. The original owner commuted from Golden to Highlands Ranch so in the last year it racked up 10,000 miles. The Original owner got pregnant and had to sell it for something more sensible. I essentially have a one owner truck. The clutch isn't broken in and the gears grind a bit because I'm not used to it. I paid $3,000 for it. I got the deal of the century. Its a very well optioned truck. It has AC and Heat, jump seats and front buckets, a built in tachometer, power brakes and power steering. The power steering leaks a bit so I need to find a new fitting, and there are no struts in the bed topper's windshield, gonna go to a junkyard next week and get new struts. Also, I need a new shift knob, the splines on this one are stripped. I'm thinking of getting a hurst shift knob.
Also, the truck is nearly identical to !!!error: Indecipherable SUB-paragraph formatting!!! 's truck. Here's our trucks next to eachother:
Which one is mine? Can you tell?
I just bought my first car, before I have a license (the test is scheduled for a week from tomorrow). AND ITS A MANUAL!!
PS- This was manufactured in August of 1993, I was born on August 4th 1993. It is literally as old as me

93 Dakota looks better. #ShotsFired My dad had one when I was younger and I loved the hell outta that truck. Got rid of it in '08 to get his Mercury.

long live the Hoon Ranger!

That's a good looking Ranger! And it's a manual! Congratulations. Enjoy it. You got a great deal. It's also awesome all of the fluids were just changed. I would be very happy about that.

Swap an 8.8 axle with an LSD.

Nice! We have a '96 in the same color, but 2.3 and auto. Ours has 176,000 miles and only gets used occasionally for hauling stuff, but it runs like a champ.
One thing I'd keep an eye on is the rear diff cover. I know Ford used a couple of different rear end sizes so yours might not be the same as mine since you've got the V6, but ours cracked and it was a little pricey to replace because it was kind of an oddball size.
Here's a picture of it crammed into our old garage during a hail storm:

Awesome. Congrats. I had a '94 single cab. It was a courier truck so it was almost all highway miles. 5th gear went out a few weeks after I got it. I drove it as a 4 speed until 4th started to go. Right around that time my mom got a new car so I got her old one and my parents sold the truck. It was a fun truck. I used to miss it sometimes.

YES

The diff was serviced just before I got it. SB62's is leaking though, he's in the process of getting it fixed

Since there's a handful of us that have one, there needs to be an oppo Ranger meet.
![]() 11/21/2014 at 17:55 |
|
yes there should. How many are there in Colorado on oppo?
![]() 11/21/2014 at 18:07 |
|
I don't know about CO. Haha I'm in PA, I spose it would be a long distance meet!

Mine is broken as of Sunday though. Finally killed the heads for good.
![]() 11/21/2014 at 18:36 |

It's got the 4.0, so it should at least have the 8.8. Very likely to have the posi as well.
![]() 11/21/2014 at 19:33 |
|
You gonna fix it?
![]() 11/21/2014 at 19:54 |
|
I really wanna rip out the 2.9 and put a 302 in it. Or I could be simple and do a 4.0 swap, because its pretty much a bolt in ordeal.

The price seems just about right actually. Don't think it's really worth more than that to be honest. Nice truck though!
So the grinding gears is you? If it's the clutch on it's own, you should probably have it looked at.
![]() 11/21/2014 at 20:53 |
|
I'm not pushing the clutch in all the way every time, my dads driving it right now. He's been driving stick for 40 years on and off (mostly on). It's not grinding on him. I just have to get more practice in
![]() 11/21/2014 at 20:55 |
|
Ah, Is the clutch heavy or just has a lot of travel?
I suggest you get in the truck and spend about half an hour mashing the clutch all the way to the floor, and slowly releasing it. Some mock shifting wouldn't hurt either.
![]() 11/21/2014 at 20:59 |
|
It's just really heavy. Mock shifting is not a bad idea though
![]() 11/21/2014 at 21:02 |
|
Seriously, you should do that. Also drive the truck as much as you can, and avoid automatics (Yes, the Odyssey) until you fully get the hang of low speed shifting.
![]() 11/21/2014 at 21:07 |
|
Well I just rescheduled my drive test for Sunday the 30th. But after that, yes I'll drive it as much as possible
![]() 11/21/2014 at 21:08 |

Awesome, Awesome.
I expect some good hoonery from you and that Buick guy who more or less has the same truck.
![]() 11/21/2014 at 21:10 |
|
Oh yes, twin hooning shall be had
![]() 11/21/2014 at 21:14 |

Haha, That would be the ultimate mindfuck when you two are together .
We need more Truckporn though! Take more pictures!

Right when I got the truck SB62 and I stopped at his house to pick up something, we pulled up right behind his Ranger. His brother goes to a High school a block away, he was coming home for lunch. He gave us the weirdest look, so I told him "Honey I cloned the truck!". It was fun. And so many pictures will be taken, you have my word.
![]() 11/21/2014 at 21:29 |
|
Haha, That's awesome.
![]() 11/21/2014 at 21:30 |

I was looking at manual rangers and manual XJs. Its just by happenstance that this one turned up in the same color as his
![]() 11/21/2014 at 21:31 |

Congrats! Looks pretty damn cool. Enjoy.
![]() 11/21/2014 at 21:32 |

Haha, With a truck cap and all!
4wd?
![]() 11/21/2014 at 21:35 |
|
Cap and all, but their both RWD. I actually prefer RWD
![]() 11/21/2014 at 21:36 |
|
Ah, Nice, Nice.
Any mods planned?
![]() 11/21/2014 at 21:38 |
|
Sometime in the future I may lower it to sedan height and rename it the Rangero. But thats a big undertaking, if I still have it in 4 years I may do that
![]() 11/21/2014 at 21:39 |
|
Nice, Just don't forget it's a truck! :P
I'm guessing that Colorado winters won't take nicely to lowering, I know that a good amount of lowered A4 drivers raise their cars a bit for winter mode.

Im not gonna stance it, maybe put on Crown vic suspension parts. It wont be low, It'll just be lower. But even if I do that, It'll be a while. At least a year, most likely more
![]() 11/21/2014 at 21:48 |
|
Noice, How about some steelies from a Crown Vic also?
![]() 11/21/2014 at 21:59 |
|
Even if I dont do the suspension swap, I'd get those and put the stock hubcaps on when I need new tires. The all seasons it came with still have quite alot of meat left on them.
![]() 11/21/2014 at 22:13 |
|
P71 hubcaps, or the centercaps?
![]() 11/21/2014 at 22:30 |
|
The stock center caps that the truck came with
![]() 11/21/2014 at 22:36 |
|
Will they fit? I know for a fact that the ones on the truck with steelies will fit, but I'm not sure about the style on yours.
![]() 11/21/2014 at 22:42 |
|
Well, ok they don't have to be crown Vic steelies, but I do want black steelies
![]() 11/21/2014 at 22:45 |
|
Those are the centercaps that fit the P71 wheels properly. On an older Ranger, but whaaattevahhhh.

there is no front bumper plate in the picture above, and this fender is chrome, not plastic.
